SwineTrack v7.3

Operator Manual

The definitive guide to managing your digital farm.

System Overview

SwineTrack is a robust Farm OS that digitizes livestock records. It combines event-based tracking with predictive algorithms to help you manage breeding, health, and inventory.

Key Features:

  • Inventory Management: Track Sows, Boars, Piglets, and Fatteners.
  • Medical Cabinet: Instant-sync inventory for vaccines and medicines.
  • Smart Genealogy: Inbreeding alerts and lineage tracking.
  • Cycle Prediction: Automated reproductive tracking for Sows.
  • Data Export: Download your entire herd book to Excel (CSV).

Advanced Sow Cycle Logic

The system uses an event-based engine to predict sow status. It analyzes Insemination, Pregnancy Check, Farrowing, and Weaning dates in a specific order of priority.

Status Priority System (How it Works)

The system checks these conditions in order. The first one that matches becomes the Sow's status:

  1. FAILED / OPEN: Triggered if you explicitly set Pregnancy Status to Negative. This overrides all dates.
  2. HEAT CHECK: Triggered if you enter a Weaning Date that was less than 10 days ago. (Sows typically return to heat 5-7 days after weaning).
  3. PREGNANT: Triggered if Insemination Date is more recent than the last birth.
    • Shows DUE SOON if gestation > 109 days.
    • Shows OVERDUE if gestation > 115 days.
  4. LACTATING: Triggered if she has given birth (Parity Date set) but hasn't been weaned or re-inseminated yet (and it's been < 35 days).
  5. OPEN / EMPTY: Default state if none of the above apply.
Pregnant

Active when Insemination Date is after last birth.

Set Pregnancy Status to "Confirmed" to lock in the due date.

Due Soon

Triggered automatically at 109+ days gestation.

Visual alert to prepare farrowing crates.

Lactating

Triggered after birth until a Weaning Date is set.

Tracks days since farrowing.

Heat Check

Triggered immediately after you input a Weaning Date.

Or if Pregnancy Status is set to Negative.

Genetics & Safety

SwineTrack actively helps you prevent genetic defects and track production sources.

  • Inbreeding Guard: The system will alert you immediately if you try to breed a Sow with her own father (Sire).
  • AI Batch Tracking: If you select AI (Artificial Insemination), a new field appears to record the Tube/Batch ID. This helps identify bad semen batches if multiple sows fail to conceive.
  • Origin / Source: Use this field to tag bought-in animals (e.g., "Topigs Norsvin") vs. "Farm Born" stock.

The Medical Cabinet

The "Medical" tab acts as your farm pharmacy. Updates here are instant.

  1. Go to the Medical tab.
  2. Type the name of a new item (e.g., "Iron Dextran") in the input box.
  3. Click (+). The item is instantly saved and available in the "Add Entry" dropdowns.
  4. To delete, click the icon.

Reports & Exports
